Keta Sandlanders 1-0 Abor Comboni

Keta Sandlanders moved to the top of our group in Ghana’s Volta Regional Division 2 on Saturday after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Abor Comboni. Going into this game the Abor side had won 3 games out of 3 so this was always going to be our most difficult encounter so far but despite having a man sent off early in the second half for a second yellow card, we held on to take the points. Striker John Mensah (with his second goal in 2 games since joining Sandlanders) brought joy to the home fans with what proved to be the winning goal mid-way through the first half.

The result means that Sandlanders now have 10 points from 4 games played. Our final game of the first round is played next Sunday at Abanata FC and another win would ensure we reach the half way point of the group stage on top of the table. Just to remind you, only the top team in the group after all 10 games qualifies for Middle League (with the chance to take a shot at Division One qualification) so we will be looking for top marks in our 6 remaining games.
